Release Notes

When using Hardware Monitor or Temperature Monitor to connect to Hardware Monitor Remote version 4.92 or later, the clients must also run version 4.92 or later: Hardware Monitor Remote version 4.92 introduces an internal technical change which is not compatible with all features of network clients running a version prior to 4.92. Although older clients can connect to the monitored remote computer, the network link can be terminated unexpectantly.

Workaround: Update all clients to version 4.92 (or later) before updating Hardware Monitor Remote.

Issues with the security component when mixing our system utilities of the “pre and post Gatekeeper” era

With Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 and later, Apple introduced a new security feature called Gatekeeper. (Gatekeeper may not be advertized and may not be visible on the user interface when using Mac OS X Lion, although it is built in.) Gatekeeper allows you to define a system policy where the operating system won't allow to launch applications from untrusted sources.

Our system tools have been using security techniques similar to that of Gatekeeper since October 2007. However, with Apple's introduction of Gatekeeper, subtle conflicts can arise because the definition of trusted software is naturally different between our own applications and that used by Apple. As a consequence, “old” software versions from the “pre-Gatekeeper era” cannot (and should not) trust up-to-date versions. For this reason, if you are using two or more of our system utilities that contain security features, you should avoid to have “old” and “new” versions installed at the same time. There is absolutely no risk in doing so, but each time you switch between an up-to-date and a “pre-Gatekeeper” version, you will see a warning message similar to this:

The security component has been modified

The part of the application that is privileged to perform critical security operations has been modified. This could be an attempt to break into your computer. Please inform your system administrator or security officer. <Application Name> will try to remove the modified component.

The simple solution to this problem is to update all our system applications in parallel. When using one or more of the following applications in addition to Hardware Monitor Remote, make sure that they have at least the following version numbers (or later versions). Do not use older versions at the same time:

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I remotely monitor the internal temperature sensors of Intel processors?

To use this feature, it is necessary that you first install our driver for accessing extended x86 information:

  1. Download and launch Hardware Monitor on the computer which should be monitored.
  2. Let the application install the necessary parts.
  3. Restart the monitoring service of Hardware Monitor Remote. You can remove Hardware Monitor after the driver has been installed if you only want to monitor the system remotely, not locally. The driver will remain on the system even if you remove the main application.
